Udupi: The fourth-year deanery-level Way of the Cross was held at St Antony’s Church Kuntalnagar with Solemnity and devotion on Sunday March 13.
Prior to the Way of the Cross, arrangements for the Sacrament of confession was led by Fr Prakash Lobo of Assisi Nilaya Moodubelle followed by confessions.
The Eucharistic mass was concelebrated by Dr Albert D’Souza Archbishop of Agra Diocese along with Msgr Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese, Fr Fred Mascarenhas dean Udupi deanery, Fr Denis D’Sa parish priest of Kuntalnagar Church and other priests from the deanery.
After the mass, all devotees gathered in the church compound. Fr Prakash Lobo of Assisi Nilaya conducted the devotion of the Way of the Cross and also delivered the sermon. The way of the cross theme focused on Mercy of the Lord as this is the year of Mercy. Fr Prakash narrated the significance of each Station of the Cross and linked it with the day-to-day life of individuals and families.
Representatives from each of the nine parishes of the Udupi Deanery carried the Cross and candles during the Way of the Cross. The solemnity and devotion pervaded the entire conduct of the Way of the Cross. The choir sang Lenten hymns.
Msgr Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese, Fr Fred Mascarenhas dean Udupi deanery delivered the message after the Way of the Cross, he appreciated the arrangements that were made for the Udupi Varado level Way of the Cross by the parishioners of Kuntalnagar under the leadership of Fr Denis D’Sa.
Fr Denis D’Sa parish priest of Kuntalnagar Church thanked all who worked for the success of the spiritual evening. Around 1000 faithful from the deanery and other places of the diocese participated in the spiritual evening.
