Fake notes found in Canara bank’s cash chest

Udupi: Fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs 1000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 were found in the currency chest of various Canara Bank Branches.

According to a complaint filed by the bank’s branch manager Maruthi G Shanbhag on September 1, fake notes were found in the cash chest between April 15, 2015 and April 18, 2016. The bank found 28 notes in the denomination of Rs 1000, 33 notes in the denomination of Rs 500 and three in the denomination of Rs 100 to be fake.

A case has been registered in Town Police Station and investigation on.
