Family Donates Organs of 39-year-old Police Constable Lawrence
Udupi: With increasing awareness on organ donation, family members of the brain dead are coming forward to donate vital organs of their loved ones. The vital organs of 39-year-old ‘brain dead’ police constable Lawrence Selvaraj were donated by his family members giving new lease of life to others
Police constable Lawrence was suffering from brain cancer. He was admitted to the Manipal hospital but he did not respond to the treatment and doctors declared him ‘Braindead’. Doctors also consulted the family members about donating the organs so that he can live after death, the family members consented to their advice.
The organs will be taken to Mangaluru on November 11, for transplantation. A Green corridor will be created during the transportation of organs.
Lawrence is survived by wife and two children.
