Father Muller Celebrates Children’s Day with Joy, Magic, and a Hero’s Tribute

Mangalore: The Department of Paediatrics at Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) and the Department of Paediatric Nursing at Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) brought smiles to young faces with a vibrant celebration of Children’s Day, held in the Conference Hall on the third floor of the hospital building at 3:30 PM. The event was filled with joy, laughter, and a spirit of community.

The program began with a warm welcome from Dr. Anil Shetty, Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics, who set a joyful tone for the gathering. The chief guest of the event, Ms. Vaibhavi Kinnigoli, moved the audience with her story of courage. While waiting on the roadside, she had witnessed a speeding auto-rickshaw lose control, overturning onto her mother, Chethana. Displaying remarkable bravery, Vaibhavi rushed to lift the vehicle, freeing her mother, the driver, and a passenger. In recognition of her heroic act, Father Muller Charitable Institutions honored Vaibhavi, offering her and her entire school free health cards as a token of appreciation. Vaibhavi’s parents also received this heartfelt gift.

The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including the Dean FMMC Dr Antony Sylvan Dsouza, Vice Dean Dr Venkatesh B M, Deputy MS FMMCH Dr Kishan Shetty, Principal of FMCON Sr Danya Devasia, CNO FMMCH Sr Nancy Mathias, Dr Shiji P J of Community Medicine, Mrs Sandra Saldanha . Adding a digital milestone to the day, the Pediatrics Department launched its new Instagram account with the handle “deptofpediatrics_mullers”, where the Dean of FMMC released the first reel showcasing the dedicated paediatrics team.

The celebrations continued with vibrant dance performances by students, followed by a prize distribution ceremony for the young winners of drawing, spot games, and fancy dress competitions. Orchid plants were presented as mementos to the competition judges. Bringing awe and laughter, the Kalasrishti team performed a lively magic show, and Mr. Sam entertained everyone with impressive balloon sculptures.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by emcees Dr. Himalini and Dr. Avinash. Children of FMCI staff, hospitalized children and their families, nursing students, and staff of the Paediatrics and Nursing departments all came together, making this Children’s Day a truly unforgettable celebration of joy and bravery.
