Father Muller College Hosts Successful Health Camp in Mundaje
Mangalore: Father Muller College of Nursing, through its Research Innovations and Extension Committee in partnership with the Blood Centre of Father Muller Medical College Hospital and the Indian Cancer Society, successfully organized a health camp on February 9, 2025, at St. Mary’s Church in Mundaje. The event ran from 9 am to 1 pm and drew a significant number of participants from the local community.
A dedicated team of 50 healthcare professionals provided a range of services across ten specialized medical departments, with particular emphasis on the medicine and obstetrics and gynecology (OBG) sections. During the camp, health screenings were conducted for various conditions, revealing alarming figures: 21 individuals underwent oral cancer screenings, while 25 were screened for breast cancer, and 21 Pap smears were conducted.
In addition to cancer screenings, the camp also featured a blood donation drive, coordinated by Mr. Manoj P. S., in which 22 enthusiastic donors participated. Furthermore, Ms. Reena Frank led a comprehensive cancer screening session that contributed significantly to the overall success of the initiative. Dr. Devina Rodrigues, together with members of Criteria III, managed operations at the general health camp, ensuring that all attendees received appropriate medical attention.
Engaging the youth was a focus of the event, with Ms. Priya Sequeira conducting an informative quiz about blood donation, and motivating participants with cash prizes for winners. The comprehensive health camp concluded at 2 pm, having screened a total of 131 individuals.
Local parishioners expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the healthcare services provided during this initiative, highlighting the importance of such camps in promoting health awareness and accessible healthcare solutions within the community.
