Father Muller College of Nursing Welcomes New Batch with Course Inauguration
Mangalore: Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON), a premier institution in the region, welcomed its new batch of students with the inauguration of BSc(N) 38th batch, PB BSc(N) 37th batch, MSc(N) 33rd batch of Nursing of the year 2024. The ceremony took place on September 12, 2024, at the Decennial Memorial Hall of the Knowledge Centre.
The event was graced by Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions; Dr. Sr. Judy, Principal of Father Muller Nursing College, Thumbay, was the chief guest speaker. The ceremony was also attended by Rev. Fr. Ajith B. Menezes, Administrator of Father Muller Medical College, College of Physiotherapy, and College of Allied Health Sciences; Rev. Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator of Father Muller Medical College Hospital; and Sr. Anjana Rose, First-year BSc nursing coordinator.
The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer song by the first-year nursing students and a welcome speech by Sr. Dhanya Devasia, Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing. The ceremony then moved to the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Dr. Sr. Judy delivered an inspiring address to the new batch of students, emphasizing the importance of serving others and being good role models. She emphasized the need to set goals and boundaries and to lead a life that inspires others. She also shared the acronym SMART NURSE(Smile, Mindfulness, Accountability, Reliability, Thoughtfulness – Nurturing, Understanding, Respect, Skills, Education) which is a need in today’s smart society.
Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho delivered the presidential address, welcoming all newcomers to the prestigious institution. He emphasized the importance of being grateful for being chosen to serve in the healthcare profession and to overcome obstacles and personal hurdles with empathy.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Sr. Anjana Rose. The event was compered by Mrs. Merlin Fernandes, Asst Prof, Nursing foundation Department
A short parent-teacher-student orientation was after the tea break for the fresher’s and their parents.
With this inauguration, the students were all set to embark on their journey to become skilled nurses who can make a difference in the lives of thousands.
