Feast of Our Lady of Rosary was Celebrated with Devotion at Rosario Cathedral
Mangaluru: “450 years ago Our Lady of Rosary came down from Goa to the coastal Mangaluru along with Rosary. Ever since then she has been our mother, protecting all of us from all adversities of life. She has taken a prime place in our hearts and homes. As we honour her today, we need to intercede her through rosary prayer. This devotion which has been handed down to us through our ancestors should be taught to our youth and children,” said Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop Emeritus, the main celebrant of the feast, preaching the homily at the festal mass at Rosario Cathedral on October 8, 2018 at 8 a.m.
Bishop D’ Souza said, “Cathedral Parish is the Mother Church for all other churches in Mangaluru and Udupi Dioceses. Cathedral should always remain as the ideal parish community for others. During the year of the rosary, we had many occasions to know more about Mother Mary and Rosary devotion which should increase our love towards her.”
Msgr Maxim Noronha was welcomed by Rev. Fr J B Crasta, the Rector of the Cathedral. Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr Anil Fernandes, Fr Victor George, Fr Sylvester Vincent, Fr Rocky Fernandes, Fr Victor and Fr Flavian were the con-celebrants.
At the Vespers on the eve of the feast, Rev Fr Anil Fernandes, Rector of Minor seminary celebrated mass and preached homily. A procession of the relic was followed.
