FIFA imposes sanction on RFEF for international transfers of minors
Madrid, Oct 25 (IANS) World football governing body FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday announced a sanction against the Royal Spanish Football Federation RFEF for breaking the current legislations on transfers and international registration of players under 18 years of age.
FIFA, in a statement, said it was found that RFEF had violated several provisions concerning the signings and registration of foreign minor players, especially article No.19 of the regulations on the status of players’ transfers, reports Efe.
RFEF will be fined 200,000 euros ($217,740) and will have to amend the regulations of minor transfers within six months.
According to the FIFA statement, the decision was made based on the specific elements of the cases following investigations initially conducted by FIFA Transfer Matching System GmbH and subsequently by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee as part of disciplinary proceedings.
“The investigations concerned minor players who were involved with and participated in competitions with the clubs Atletico de Madrid and Real Madrid over various periods between 2007 and 2014 (Atlético de Madrid) and between 2005 and 2014 (Real Madrid),” explained the note.
