Filmy style Robbery at ‘More for You’ supermarket in Manipal
Udupi: In a filmy style robbery two unidentified persons entered into the ‘More for You’ supermarket located at Manipal and looted Rs 2.7 lakh cash and coupons. The incident has been reported early in the morning when the supermarket opened for business. Thieves attacked manager Praveen and injured him on the ear.
Both the thieves wearing helmets entered the shop which had just opened for business in the morning. Both the thieves entered the supermarket flashing machetes at the staff and manager and managed to flee away with Rs 2.7 Lakh cash.
The staff suspect that the thieves were well informed of the cash in the store since being Sunday and Saturday the cash was not deposited in the bank.
The staff say that thieves were conversing in Kannada. The Manipal town police have launched a probe and are verifying CCTV footage from places outside the store as the supermarket does not have a surveillance system installed.
These things are bound to happen – and just imagine the guts of these Kannad thieves – wielding machetes in broad day light. Where are the police patrols – those Hoyasala jeep patrols?
