Fire at Mumbai building; Deepika Padukone among residents
Mumbai: At least 90 residents were evacuated safely on Wednesday after a fire broke out on the 33rd floor of Prabhadevi’s Beaumonde Towers, where Bollywood star Deepika Padukone also resides.
According to officials, the fire was seen around 2.10 pm local time on the uppermost floors of the building. In no time, thick black clouds of smoke were billowing out.
Later, after nearly three hours, the flames started spreading on to the lower floors creating panic among the flat owners who include several celebrities including from the business and glamour world.
More than two dozen fire-tenders, including sophisticated lifts and cranes, have been deployed to fight the blaze. There were no reports of casualties so far.

Deepika, who stays at the 26th floor of the building which caught fire, is safe. She was away for an advertisement shoot.
Her staff members were among those who were evacuated.
The fire broke out on top floor of the building at Appasaheb Marathe Marg in Prabhadevi locality in Worli.
The level II fire which had broken out in Beau Monde Towers in Worli’s Prabhadevi, has now become a level III fire. Firefighting operations are still underway.
Mumbai Police has tweeted their officers and Fire brigade are at the scene and trying to douse the fire.
