First of its Kind ECMO Facility in Coastal Region Launched at A J Hospital & Research Centre

Mangaluru: Till now ventilation was the last line of Mechanical support in the Coastal region. Whereas rest of the country had hi-tech Bypass Machine (ECMO) facility which is now available at A J Hospital & Research Centre, Mangalore, the lead hospital which provides the latest in medical technology in the coastal region.

This hi-tech Bypass Machine helps to support life when the ventilator no longer supports the organ. This machine can be used in Bridge to Heart-Lung Transplant, Lung Failure, Snake Bite / Poisoning, Major Trauma, Heart attack, which requires mechanical support.

This machine can also be used in children and in MICU, PICU, CCU. This is also one step away for starting Heart Lung Transplant programme in Coastal Karnataka.
