Fish Truck Illegally Transporting Beef Stopped by Bajrang Dal Activists in City
Mangaluru: Seems like the Bajrang Dal activists are doing a better job in cracking down on illegal transportation of beef, than the police who have turned a blind eye to this ongoing issue, going on for a long time. Following close on its heels, after Bajrang Dal activists, in the early morning hours of 13 October Bajrang Dal activists after coming to know that beef was being illegally transported in a milk van, the activists had chased the van, managed to stop it near the District Wenlock Hospital in the City, and handed over the vehicle along with the driver to police of Bunder station. The activists had chased the vehicle right from Kankanady Pumpwell in the city and till they caught up with the truck near the Wenlock Hospital.
And now five days later, we are seeing another case where illegal transportation of beef in a fish truck was stopped by Bajrang Dal activists on Sunday, 18 October near Kankanady Pumpwell in the City, and seized beef. The mini truck meant for hauling fish, was found carrying nearly two tonnes of beef illegally, as per the activists- after stopping the truck, the activists handed over the truck and driver to Kankanady police. As per the activists, they had chased the truck all the way from Kannur near Adyar, in the outskirts of Mangaluru, and however successfully stopped it near Kankanady Pumpwell. Two persons remain arrested by the cosp in this incident.
It should be noted that few days ago Sharan Pumpwell-the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Regional secretary during a press meet had given a stern warning to the District Administration authorities that if they don’t take quick action against the increasing illegal cattle trafficking that is presently going on, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will start protesting on the streets until such illegal activities are completely stopped. “We also warn that the District Administration would be held liable for any untoward incidents which may occur during the protests. In spite of increasing illegal cow trafficking that is going on the district administration officials and also the police have turned a blind eye towards it” had said Sharan, but the illegal supply of beef doesn’t seem like stopping anytime soon.
Sharan speaking to Team Mangalorean had said, “It is learnt that several cases of illegal cattle trafficking have been filed in various police station limits, but the cops have failed to take any action against the culprits. If tempos or mini trucks were used earlier to carry on this illegal trade, now cars, SUV’s and minivans are being used to transport the cows illegally to slaughter houses in Dakshina Kannada and Kudroli in Mangaluru. A mega network of illegal cow trafficking mafia is behind this illegal trade. VHP and Bajrang Dal urges the law enforcement department to form a special squad to stop the illegal trafficking of cows which is on the rise. And if the police nab the people behind this illegal trade, they should take severe action against them, including the culprits who were caught on 4 October transporting cows illegally, where six calves had fallen off from their vehicle during transportation to the slaughter house in Kudroli in the City”.
