Five-day Coastalwood Premier League Inaugurated at Nehru Maidan
Mangaluru: The Five-day Coastalwood Premier League (CPL) was inaugurated at the Nehru Maidan here on April 11.
The programme began with the National Anthem. RJ Anurag welcomed the gathering. The CPL was inaugurated by the DGM of Corporation Bank Vittal Shenoy by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering Devdas Kapikad said, “Today the entire Coastalwood has gathered at the Nehru Maidan for the CPL. Earlier when the rent for the Town Hall was hiked we had gathered to protest against it. Today we are here to play a friendly Cricket Match. I see all the future heroes on the ground. Mithun Rai is a budding Hero in Politics. Today 8 different teams have gathered to play in the CPL and they all belong to Coastalwood. We all should be united because we have worked hard for the growth of the Tulu film industry.”
Devdas Kapikad further said, “It is not easy to unite all the Tulu film actors together. People from all walks of life are present here, we see all the heroes of Tulu Cinema here. We should be united to work for the development of the Tulu language. I thank the organizers for organizing the CPL, in order to support the Coastalwood stars many have bought the cricket teams. Let the Tulu actors get many opportunities to keep them busy in the coming days. Let the people of Dakshina Kannada support our Coastalwood stars.”
Addressing the gathering Vijaykumar Kodialbail said, “Let all the Tulu actors, directors, producers come together for the growth of the Tulu film industry. Let anyone win the CPL, but let all the teams play with the spirit of sportsmanship.”
Addressing the gathering District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai said, “There is God’s grace on Coastalwood. This is the only platform where the Coastalwood stars have got together for the growth of Tulu language. Let Coastalwood Premier League will be a symbol of Unity and harmony. I congratulate all the players and the organizers.”
The Coastal Premier League was declared open by releasing the balloons into the air. Former Mayor Mahabala Marla administered the oath to the players.
Sudhakar Bannanje, Devadas Pandeshwar, Srinivas, Sharmila D Kapikad, Sharath Kadri, Yogish Shetty Jeppu, Arvind Bolar, Bojaraj Vamanjoor, Jyothika Jain, Sapna Kini, Yathish Baikampady, Leelaksha Karkera, Mohan, and others were also present.
