Five from Same Family Dead in Car & Bus Head-On Collision at Nelamangala, near Bengaluru
Mangaluru: According to the morning news on Tv9 English news, five people from the same family died on the spot, when their Scorpio SUV collided head-on with a KSRTC Airavat Volvo bus during the wee hours of Tuesday, 5 March 2019.
As per the news, the KSRTC bus was plying from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, while the Scorpio SUV was going from Kunigal to Bengaluru. In a phone conversation with the TV anchor of TV9, the injured bus driver Bheema Rao, lying on the hospital bed said, “We started late at night from Bengaluru, and when we reached near Nelamangala, a Scorpio SUV jumped the median and collided head-on with our bus. Since the SUV was speeding, the front portion of it was totally mangled, and due to the impact and applying of the sudden brake, I got stuck between the seat and steering wheel, unable to get out, till I was helped and pulled out. The bus has been damaged on the front side, while there have been no injuries to passengers. Two relief buses were arranged to transport the passengers to Mangaluru”.
The five deceased from the same family has been identified as Elumalai, Kamala, (husband & wife) their children Kiran, Geetha and Giridhar, all from Nayandahalli in South Bengaluru. The deceased and injured were taken to Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru. It is learnt that the brake failure of the SUV resulted in the tragic accident. Police are further investigating the case.
