Five Highway Robbers Arrested by Ullal police Anti Rowdy Squad

Mangaluru: The Ullal police arrested 5 persons for their alleged involvement in the highway robbery case on the Kerala – Mangaluru highway and airport road here on October 22.

The arrested have been identified as Khalil K alias Kallu (27) from Manjeshwar, Kasargod, Ravi Kumar (24) from Puttur, Azim alias Mohammed Azim (23) from Manjeshwar, Rajesh K (30) from Manjeshwar and Zabir Abbas alias Zabir (24) from Manjeshwar.

According to the police, on October 22, the anti-rowdy squad, on getting reliable information about a group of five men plotting to loot the air passengers travelling from Kerala to the Mangaluru International airport. They were plotting to target those who were travelling to the airport. The gang was stopping them in remote areas and looting them of their gold ornaments and other valuables.

The Anti-rowdy squad got into action and arrested all the five and seized iron rods, chilli powder, knives, and a Swift Car from their possession. A case has been registered in Ullal police station under section 399, 402 and 4, 25(1-B) B Indian Arms Act.

The accused were produced before the court where they were remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

During interrogation, it was learnt that the accused Rajesh, Javed and Khalil had assaulted a youth in Manjeshwar, Kerala on October 19. Another accused Ravikumar is involved in various crimes and 4 cases of Ganja peddling in the Puttur Town Police station, Manjeshwar Police station and Barke station. Ravikumar is also involved in theft and assault cases. Three cases have been registered against the accused Khalil including one case in the Kavoor station, two cases against Javed and three cases against Rajesh.

Under the able direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh, and under the guidance of DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth, the operation was carried out by the ACP South Subdivision K Ramrao, Inspector K R Gopikrishna, Sub-inspector Rajendra B, team members of Anti rowdy squad Mohan, Rajaram, Sheriff, Mohammed Iqbal, Sunil Kumar, Damodar, Sudheer, Dayanand, Reji and Ravichandra.

Criminals are people who are not social and do not respect human beings, community, faith, religion, and the law. It’s only after they commit a crime be it selling drugs, kidnapping, robbery, rape, and murder, that they are either caught or wanted. The criminals who are caught are tried for days and months and years together before being convicted and being jailed, and in some case given a death sentence that again takes years to be executed.
