Five Suspicious Persons Arrested by Bantwal Police, Weapons Seized
Bantwal: Five suspicious persons who were found waiting near the Manchi Katte at 1:30 am were arrested by the Bantwal Rural police on September 4.
The arrested have been identified as Ummer Farooq alias Chenna Farooq (26), Mohammed Abubakar (21), Abdul Khader (40), Rameez alias Mohammed Rameez (22) and Khalil alias Ibrahim Khalil (24) all from Bantwal.
According to the police, on September 4 at 1:30 am the Bantwal Rural police Sub Inspector and his team who were on patrol noticed five persons standing on the side of the road at Manchi Katte in a suspicious manner. The police took them into the custody while one of them managed to escape. He has been identified as Akbar from Suribail.
When the police searched their vehicles, they found a sickle with an iron handle, another sickle with a wooden handle and ganja in their possession. The Bantwal police seized 2 Honda Activa two-wheelers and the weapons from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they were plotting to loot Vehicle drivers using the road.
Out of the five, accused Ummer Farooq is involved in an attempt to murder case and the case was registered in Bantwal Town Police station. All the five have been taken into custody and a case under sections 399, 402 IPC, 25 (1B)(b) Arms Act, 20(b)(II)(A) NDPS act has been registered against them.
