Five-year-old Female leopard trapped near Kalavara
Kundapur: A five-year-old female leopard fell into a trap laid by the Forest Department officials at Kakkeri, Kalavara here during the late hours of Friday, November 9.
People in the nearby villages of Varahi were frightened by the presence of the leopard and had complained to the Forest Department.
According to DFO Prabhakaran, “Following complaints from the public, we had kept a cage in the land belonging to Chandrashekar Hegde a week ago. This morning, we heard from the villagers that an animal was trapped in the cage.
A veterinarian examined the leopard and declared it as healthy. The department staff then released the wildcat in the forests of the Western Ghats.
