Flower show attracts huge crowd in Udupi

Udupi: Musical instruments and Kaup Light house came alive in a floral form at the flower show which began at the Horticulture department premises at Doddangudde here on Saturday January 28.

 

 

People from different walks of life came in droves to get a glimpse of the musical instruments like Guitar, Violin, Drums, the Kaup Light house moulded in flowers etc. Floral arrangements of various patterns were also in display.

The Flower show was organised by the Horticulture department in association with various agricultural associations. The show received a good response from the general public.
Hundreds of people including school students and farmers participated in the programme. Various types of flowers captivated the visitors.

The model of Kaup light house was made out of 9000 roses, Yakshagana Keerita (crown) of 3000 roses and 1000 jebera flowers. Various flowers, musical instruments, animals carved out of water melon and other fruits attracted the attention of the people.

The flowers on display included marigold, French marigold, petunia, verbena, coleus, impatiens, celosia, gomphrena, dahlia, aster and sunflower etc.

Other decorative flowers including Oriental Lily, Asiatic Lily, Tube Rose, Bird of Paradise, were also on display at the show.

Among the horticultural products on display were tender coconuts, arecanut, cashew, black pepper and cocoa, fruits such as banana, pineapple, jackfruit and papaya.

The show was inaugurated by Dinakar Babu President of Udupi Zilla Panchyat by lighting the lamp. Venkatesh deputy commissioner, Sheela K Shetty vice president ZP, Meenakshi Madhava president CMC Udupi, Shilpa Suvana member of ZP, Shasikanth Padubidiri standing committee president and others were present.
