The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by the chief guest-Prof. K Umamaheshwar Rao- Director, NITK, Surathkal, along with other dignitaries on the dais namely- Dr Shrikanth B Konkani-Principal, Bharatesh Homoeopathic Medical College-Belagavi; Fr Richard A Coelho- Director, Fr Muller Charitable Institutions; Fr Vincent Saldanha- Administrator, FMHMCH; Dr Shivaprasad- Principal, FMHMCH; and Dr Jyoshna Shivaprasad- Organizing secretary of the Conference.

In his inaugural address, chief Guest Prof. Rao said, ” Learning is the beginning of wealth. Learning is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spiritually. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins. The great Breakthrough in your life comes when you realize it that you can learn anything you need to learn to accomplish any goal that you set for yourself. This means there are no limits on what you can be, have or do. Every mind was made for growth, for knowledge, and its nature is sinned against when it is doomed to ignorance. Knowledge is power and enthusiasm pulls the switch. Zeal without knowledge is fire without light. Conferences should not be, attending just for the sake of it, having some snacks and leaving instead you should imbibe at least one relevant issue that the conference has to offer”

He further said, “Nano Science is not new to India – even our grandmothers were thorough with the Nano Science. Presently science is playing an important role. Why homoeopathy is better than allopathy? Allopathic medicines attempt to alleviate the symptoms of disease by attacking/affecting the natural defense of body whereas the homoeopathy embraces the body’s natural response system by either encouraging the symptoms of healing or attacking the root cause of the illness. Every type of treatment has its own advantages and disadvantages. There is no side effects of drugs in homoeopathy but allopathy gives quick cure but there are also side effects. There is no permanent cure. You can only manage it within limits.Whether you follow homoeopathy or allopathy it is your choice. But,strict control over diet, Regular physical exercise and a disciplined life style are basic for all systems”.

Speaking about Homoeopathy, Dr Shrikanth Konkani said, “Homoeopathy is a system of alternative medicine created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann, based on his doctrine of like cures like (similia similibus curentur), a claim that a substance that causes the symptoms of a disease in healthy people would cure similar symptoms in sick people. Homoeopathy is a pseudoscience – a belief that is incorrectly presented as scientific. Homoeopathic preparations are not effective for treating any condition; large-scale studies have found homeopathy to be no more effective than a placebo, indicating that any positive effects that follow treatment are only due to the placebo effect, normal recovery from illness, or regression toward the mean. Homoeopathy is a form of holistic medicine used by over 200 million people worldwide to treat both acute and chronic conditions. It is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’ – in other words, a substance taken in small amounts will cure the same symptoms it causes if it was taken in large amounts. Fr Muller Institution is one such in the country having a milestone in Homoeopathic research. Make the best use of the conference, and garb all the knowledge you can get”.

Fr Richard Coelho in his presidential address said, ” I feel proud to say that Fr Fuller Institution has been in the Homoeopathy field for the last 137 years, and we are still advancing in Homoeopathic research in the country. Father Muller Charitable Institutions have been touching the lives of thousands of people for the last 137 long years.
