FMMCH holds basic Life Support and Awareness Talk at Sacred Heart School Madhanthyar

Mangaluru: The Father Muller Medical College and Hospital (FMMCH) conducted a ‘preventive care and first aid’ awareness programme to the parents of PU students and a career advancement training programme for the PU students of the Sacred Heart P.U. College, Madhanthyar.

The preventive care and first aid awareness session was delivered by Dr Rithesh D’Cunha Assistant Professor of Anaesthesiology Department (FMMCH) to around 1000 audience of the parent-teachers association. He was assisted by a trained technician who performed a series of demonstrative procedures on a mannequin. It was an interactive session wherein parents and the doctor interacted with each other.
First aid is the actual assistance provided immediately to an injured or sick person in times of urgent medical need. Aid is usually done by a non-expert, but trained personnel until proper medical treatment can be reached. The three aims of first aid training were discussed, i.e., to preserve life, to prevent further harm and to promote recovery. The outcome of the interactive session proved to be positive with parents urging for such sessions on regular intervals and also to create awareness to the general public, students, and teachers training them to apply them confidently. The principal Fr Jerome D’Souza thanked the PTA members for their huge attendance and Dr Rithesh for his talk.
The afternoon session was a career advancement training programme conducted by Dr Libert Anil Gomes, Professor of Hospital Administration and the Deputy Medical Officer of the Father Muller Medical College Hospital. He interacted with the students of the pre-university college giving them career guidance and enlightening them of the various courses available in medical/paramedical/nursing as well as in speech & hearing colleges in the Father Muller Charitable Institutions. The young minds enquired on the prospects of the courses and the avenue to enter such streams. Dr Anil asked the young minds to be focused and dedicated in any stream they choose, as that would be the foundation of their careers. The emerging new allied health courses which have been approved by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and being offered in Father Muller’s were highlighted. The new courses have great job opportunities and moreover can be mastered with great exposure to cases at the Father Muller Medical Hospital.
Sandeep Tellis, Marketing, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, gave a brief overview of the Father Muller Health Card. The Father Muller Health Card is available for a yearly subscription of Rs 100/- only and provides best in class discounts for services availed at the hospital. Services such as x-ray, lab tests, doctors charges, bed charges come under discounts with the card. The card is part of the mission of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions to provide affordable but quality health care for all with compassion.
The team were thanked for their service and were presented a memento as a token of appreciation. Fr Jerome D’Souza thanked the Director and Administrators of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions for their cooperation and will to arrange the same.
