Follow the message of Kuvempu on ‘Universal Man’ – DC Venkatesh
Udupi: We all should follow the message of veteran poet Kuvempu on the ‘Universal Man’ (Vishwa Manava) and put into practice ‘live and let live’ in our lives,” said Venkatesh, deputy commissioner of Udupi district.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Vishwa Manava Dinacharane to commemorate the birth anniversary of Kannada novelist, poet, playwright, critic and thinker Kuvempu who is widely regarded as the greatest Kannada poet of the 20th-century, at the St Cicely’s Pre-University college auditorium here on Thursday, December 29.
Kuvempu was also an exceptional human being. He said that there is no end to the work of pro-Kannada activists. He called on people to give priority to Kannada rather than other languages, he added.
Dr Gananath Ekkar state coordinator of NSS delivering the special talk on Kuvempu said that, Kuvempu has done yeoman service for Kannada. He was a great litterateur, and his life can be compared to a mahakavya (epic poem). There is no peace and unity in the modern world. Even the work of spreading peace is not taken seriously. Everybody should make an honest effort to spread Kuvempu’s ‘Vishwamanava’ message, he added.
