Foreign Job Aspirants Should be Careful of Fraudulent Agents – Dr Sanjeev Patil

Udupi: “Job aspirants should wisely choose the agents while trying for jobs abroad, as cases of fraudulent agents cheating job aspirants promising jobs in foreign countries are very high”, said District Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev Patil IPS. He was speaking during the phone-in programme organized at the District Police Office, here on October 21.

People should not fall prey to fraudulent agents who promise jobs in foreign countries. Job aspirants should consult only the agents registered in the Ministry of External Affairs. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has written a letter to the Government of Karnataka on agents cheating job aspirants.

Job aspirants who are recruited through registered agents have to sign a contract for 2 years. The payment made to the agency will be given back during the period of the expiry of the contract. Those agents who are not registered are involved in cheating and charging more money.

The Government of Karnataka has been advised by the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to initiate stringent measures on illegal agencies functioning in Karnataka and cheating people. Cheating by these agents is causing problems for our country as well as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The police have initiated to crackdown on gambling activities in the district. The prime accused involved in the alleged gambling activities in the district, Leo Cornelio is absconding. A reward will be given to those who give information on the whereabouts of Leo Cornelio. The accused arrested in gambling cases have said that the gambling activities are led by Leo Cornelio in the district.

A caller said that the city buses stop at places other than indicated by the RTO, SP said that effective action will be taken. Another caller said that the toll gates at Padubidri were not fully functional; SP said that directions will be issued to the toll plaza authorities.

Another caller from Bramhavar said that the loud music played by Disc Jockeys cause noise pollution in the surrounding areas, SP said that effective action will be taken after a formal complaint is lodged at the Police Station.

A woman caller from Hebri said that she was not allowed to draw money from the bank as she was the surety for an account holder, SP advised the woman to file a complaint.

Complaints were also received on the traffic jam in Kallianpur, Shrill Horns, gambling, traffic issues, illegal sand mining and other issues.

3 gambling cases were registered and 3 persons were taken into custody, 13 persons were arrested in 4 gambling cases, 2 cases of drug consumption, 99 COTPA cases, 21 drink and drive, 138 shrill horn and 908 motorbikes riding without helmet cases were registered.
