Former CM Siddaramaiah Releases Congress Manifesto
Mangaluru: The former chief minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao released the manifesto for the MCC elections at the District Congress office, Mallikatta here on November 6.
Addressing the mediapersons Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “From the past five years the Congress party had given priority for the development of the city. Mangaluru is a prime city after Bengaluru because it is a medical and educational hub. Mangaluru is a holy place and people from all walks of life live here in harmony. This election is very important for the Congress party. The results of the MCC elections in Mangaluru will make a lot of difference. When Moideen Bava, J R Lobo, Ramanath Rai, Abhaychandra Jain, U T Khader had won the elections in DK district, they had given priority for the development of the district. The party has fulfilled all the promises it made. Under the leadership of Siddaramaiah priority was given to the development of the district. Under UGD and Urban development, for the Surathkal constituency, the Siddaramaiah government sanctioned Rs 1400 crores. For the South constituency for 38 wards Rs 2,500 crore funds were released. All the earlier projects have been continued and are still under progress.”
Gundu Rao further said, “When the Congress government was in power Rs 5300 crore was sanctioned for the MCC. The Congress government had given priority to the Mangaluru city. All our elected members strived hard for the development of the city. The opposition won the elections by spreading false propaganda and lies. People have never said that Congress did not do any development work. Now the people are realising their mistake. The Congress will win the MCC elections, so far the MCC elections were held 6 times and the Congress has won 5 times. This time we will surely win the MCC elections.”
Gundu Rao also said, “When the Congress party was in power the MCC got the award for Swacch Mangaluru. We will give priority to Health, development of the Markets, development of tourism, development of port and fisheries etc. This is not an election gimmick, we will fulfil the promises as we have done earlier. In the last elections, we have fulfilled almost 95% of the promises, we have a history in fulfilling our promises too. BJP is not bothered to discuss the manifesto but our aim is clear, whatever promises we make, we will fulfil them”.
AICC Secretary Vishnunath P C, Former Ministers Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, Abhayachandra Jain and Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLAs J R Lobo and Moideen Bava, District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, MLC Ivan D’Souza and others were also present.
