Former HE minister B A Moideen (81) Passes Away
Mangaluru: Former Higher Education Minister and senior Congress leader B A Moideen passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on July 10. He was 81.
B A Moideen was suffering from age-related illness and admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. Last week he had returned to Bengaluru after undergoing a long treatment in Mangaluru. His health had deteriorated in Bengaluru and he was admitted to M S Ramaiah Hospital. On July 10 at around 6 am he breathed his last.
B A Moideen’s body will be taken to his residence in Sanjay Nagar Bengaluru and will be kept for public viewing till 11 am. Later the Body will be brought to Mangaluru for final rites.
B A Moideen was born Born in Pejawar Bajpe to Abdul Khader and Haleema in 1938. In 1969, he joined Congress party. He was holding various posts in the party and in 1978 he contested the Assembly elections from Bantwal constituency and won the elections. He was the MLC for two terms and later 1995 the Higher education minister in the J H Patel government. Because of his integrity during his tenure as MLC, he had earned the name “honest administrator”.
In 2016, Moideen was conferred with the Devaraj Urs award by the state government.
