Former MLA Gopal Bhandary Dies of Cardiac Arrest
Mangaluru: The former MLA of Karkala Gopal Bhandary died of cardiac arrest on July 4. He was 66.
According to sources Gopal Bhandary was travelling by bus at 2:00 pm from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. When the bus reached Mangaluru bus station, Gopal Bhandary did not alight from the bus.
The bus conductor informed the police. The police have taken Gopal Bhandary to Government Wenlock Hospital.
Former Union Minister Veerappa Moily, Former MLA J R Lobo, Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil, DCP L&O Hanumantharaya, Former Mayor Bhaskar and other police officers visited the hospital.
He is survived by wife, a daughter and two sons.
Speaking to mangalorean.com Veerappa Moily said, “Gopal Bhandary was a great leader. His untimely death has shocked us. The Congress party has lost a great leader. His body has now been shifted to the mortuary. On July 5, the body will be taken from Mangaluru to the Rajiv Bhavan Karkala at 9:00 am. The body will be kept for 2 hours at the Rajiv Bhavan for public viewing and later taken to his home town Hebri for cremation.
