Foundation for Kulshekar – Karkala NH work To be Laid on Mar 5

Mangaluru: “The foundation stone for the fishing Jetty in Kulai, National Highway construction work from Kulshekar – Karkala will be laid on March 5 by the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari through Video Conference. I would like to congratulate PM Narendra Modi for separating the fisheries ministry from Agriculture”, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on March 4.

Addressing the mediapersons MP Nalin said, “The foundation stone will be laid for the 45.1 kilometer National Highway from Bikkarnakatta to Sanoor at a cost of Rs 1,163 crores. Rs 12 crore will be spent for the road repair from Kulshekar – Karkala stretch because the NH road work will take three years to complete. The foundation stone will be laid for the City bypass road stretch of 91.20 kilometers which will link Mulky – Kinnigoli – Kateel – Bajpe – Kaikamba – Polali – Addur – B C Road – Konaje to Thokkottu at a cost of Rs 2500 Crore. The tender process has been completed for the Kulur bridge since the present bridge is old we are constructing a new bridge at a cost of Rs 65 crore”.

MP Nalin further said, “In Mangaluru port, the number of boats have increased and there was a demand to construct the fishing harbour at Kulai and we are constructing the same at a cost of Rs 196 crore. The new fishing harbour will accommodate nearly 350 boats and the New Mangaluru Port Trust will take up the responsibility to maintain it”.

MP Nalin also said, “Being a MP for two consecutive terms I have brought maximum development projects to Dakshina Kannada. I have full satisfaction in my work. The process of Kulshekar – Karkala NH has already begun and the DC has sent notifications to the concern persons. Compensation will be given to the land owners who will lose their land in the road widening process.”

Corporator Tilak Raj, Nitin Kumar, NHAI Project Director Samson Vijay Kumar and others were also present.
