Four Arrested in Manish Shetty Murder Case, 2 Injured as Police fire in Self-defence
Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, two of the accused in the Pub Owner Manish Shetty murder case attempted to attack the police near the Crematorium in Shanthi Nagar on October 17.
According to the police, on October 17, four of the accused namely Munna alias Sashi (40) from Somwarpet, Akshay alias Chandrahas (28) from Bantwal, Mangasluru, Ganesh (40) from Padil, Mangaluru, and Nithya (30) from Madikeri were arrested in the Manish Shetty murder case. At around 6:30 pm on October 17, ACP Yathiraj along with his team had taken Munna and Akshay to the crime spot at Cubbon Park to recover the weapon used for the crime. When the police reached the spot along with the accused, the accused attacked the police.
In the attack, Sub Inspector Mahadesh was injured. In retaliation and self-defence, ACP Yathiraj and the team opened fire at Munna and Akshay. The injured SI Mahadesh and the accused have been admitted to St Philomena Hospital in Bengaluru for treatment.
Under the direction of Police commissioner Kamal Pant IPS, the operation was carried out by the Bengaluru Central Sub Division ACP Yathiraj, Police Inspector Jagadish, Police Inspector Bharat, Police Inspector Rafiq, and the team.
