Four arrested in Thota Bengre Gang Rape Case
Mangaluru: The Panambur police along with the Anti-rowdy squad have arrested four persons on November 27, in connection with the gang rape of a girl in Thota Begre on November 18.
The arrested have been identified as Prajwal Suvarna alias (25), Arun alias Arun Ameen (26), Aditya Salian Alias Adi (25) and Abdul Riyaz Alias Riyaz (35) all from Bengre.
According to police on November 18, a group of seven waylaid a young couple and gang-raped the girl. In this connection, a case was filed in the Women’s police station in Pandeshwar.
The Pandeshwar women police filed a case under section 376D, 323, 504 and 506 Indian Penal Code and the search was on for the accused.
In this connection, a special team was formed under the able leadership of the Panambur police inspector Rafiq along with the anti-rowdy squad. On 27 November, four of the youth accused in the rape case have been arrested and search is on for the other three accused.
The operation was carried out by the Panambur police Inspector K M Rafiq, Women’s Police Inspector Kalavati, Panambur PSI Umesh Kumar, North Sub-division Anti-rowdy squad ASI Mohammed, Satish M, Sharan Kali and Panambur police team.
