Four arrested in Umesh Shetty murder case
Mangaluru: “The Mulky and Moodbidri police have arrested the murder accused of Umesh Shetty at Niddodi on January 10”, said the police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet held at his office here on January 11.
Addressing the media persons Chandra Sekhar said, “On December 28, the owner of Prabhavati Transport and a resident of Kelenjoor Umesh Shetty had gone missing. In this connection his brother Nagaraj had filed a missing person’s case in the Mulky police station. On January 1, the body of Umesh Shetty was found in Niddodi, Kallamundkur.
Based on the case filed a special investigation team was formed and four persons were arrested in the Umesh Shetty murder case. The arrested have been identified as Prasad Acharya (27) from Kodethur, Rajesh Shetty (32) from Niddodi, Tilak Poojary (26) resident of Niddodi and Prakash (28) from Moodigere.
Police Commissioner further said, “During investigations the accused revealed that Prasad Acharya had borrowed money from Umesh Shetty. But he did not want to return the money and thought of ending his life. On December 28, when Umesh Shetty was travelling all the four accused pulled him down from the bus, forced him into a waiting car and took him to Niddodi. Umesh Shetty was strangulated there and the his body was thrown in to a remote area at Niddodi.
Under the able guidance of Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar, DCP Law and order Shantharaju and DCP Crime, traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil, and ACP Rajendra D S the operation was carried out by the police inspector Ananth Padmanabh, Moodibidri Police inspector Ramachandra Nayak, PSI Dejappa, Probetionary PSI Maruti, Head Constable Chandrasekhar, Dharmendra, Rajesh, Annappa, Sudheer, Basavaraj, Akhil, Sujan and Shivakumar.
