Four of Family Commit Suicide at Kokkada
Beltangady: Four members of a family committed suicide by jumping into a pond at Kokkada here on January 5.
The deceased have been identified as Babu Gowda (62), his wife Gangamma (55), sons Sadananda Gowda (32) and Nityananda (30), from Aladka, Kokkada.
According to sources, Sadananda was a victim of Endosulfan and was also suffering from mental disorder. The family was living in poverty. Nityananda who was the only hope for the family six months ago met with an accident. Even Gangamma was unwell and admitted to the hospital.
On January 5, Nityananda committed suicide by jumping into the pond. As soon as the parents came to know about his death, they along with Sadananda jumped to the pond and committed suicide.
