Four Held in murder of 19-year-old Youth
Mangaluru: The Kankanady Town Police have arrested four youth on September 16 near the Railway station, in connection with the assault and murder of a youth at the Padil Railway Bridge on September 14 night.
The arrested have been identified as Punith alias Pachchu, from Padil Veeranagar, Sharath from Kannur, Nikkhil from Kannur and Prakash Shetty from Kodakkal.
According to the police, on September 14 night Nishanth along with his friends Nisarg, Asheeq, Saurav, Manish and Praveen had gone to Veeranagar Bajal for Mosaru Kudike and were sitting near the railway track. At around 2:30 am, Punith alias Pachchu along with Sharath, Nikhil and Prakash Shetty came to where Nishanth and his friends were sitting and started a fight with Nisarg. Punith too joined using abusive language and later taking a knife stabbed Nisarg. When Nishanth tried to intervene, Punith and his friends stopped him. After stabbing Nisarg, Punith and his friends fled from the spot.
Nisarg was admitted to KMC hospital in Jyothi but he succumbed to injuries on September 16. In this connection, Nishanth filed a complaint in the Kankanady Town Police station. Based on the complaint the Police arrested all the four from the Railway station.
Under the able guidance of police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya, ACP K Ram Rao the operation was carried out by the Police inspector of Kankanady Town Police station Ravi Naik, PSI Janaki, Rukamayya, Bhaskar Madan, Vinod, Ravindranath Rai, Raghuveer and Nutan Kumar.
