Fr Ashwin Cardoza Serving at Cordel Parish now Appointed Director of Mangaluru Diocese ICYM

Mangaluru : Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza serving at Cordel Parish-Kulshekar, Mangaluru was appointed as Director of Mangaluru Diocese Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) on Thursday 2 July 2020, at Olivet House in Jeppu, Mangaluru. The oath-taking ceremony began with a prayer led by the ICYM executive members. The welcome address was delivered by Leon Saldanha, president of ICYM Mangalore diocese who also gave a brief introduction about the movement and Olivet House. Fr Peter D’souza, Bishop’s representative read the appointment letter, followed by the oath taking ceremony. Fr Ashwin took over the charge as ICYM Director of Mangaluru Diocese from Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza.

Addressing the audience Fr Victor Machado, the Parish Priest of Cordel Church and also the Vicar Forane of City Deanery, said, ” Fr Ashwin for the past 13 months and 10 days served enthusiastically and involved in various activities in Cordel parish, and was liked by the parishioners. I wish him all success on behalf of all the Cordel parishioners as he takes over this new post at ICYM”. Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza appreciated the efforts put in by all the youth leaders and spoke about the youth leaders shining in the regional, national and international movements and appreciated their service and also wished Fr Ashwin all the best.

In his acceptance speech, Fr Ashwin Cardoza said, ” I encourage all youth to collaborate with one another in the ministry. Let’s walk in the Youth Ministry and work together.” Fr Peter D’Souza welcomed the new director Fr Ashwin and expressed his gratitude to the former director of ICYM Mangalore diocese, Fr Ronald D’Souza. The vote of thanks was proposed by Veena Vas, the ICYM secretary.

As a symbolic representation Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, the new ICYM director and Youth Commission secretary planted saplings and donated blood to Red Drop- Mangaluru to signify the youth as fruit sapling and make the society more fruitful and symbolize where there is blood, there is life. Similarly, without the youth, the society would be lifeless and the youth should always be filled with life and enthusiasm.
