Fr Chetan Lobo, Capuchin Appointed as the New PRO of Udupi Diocese
Udupi: Fr Chetan Lobo, Capuchin took charge as the PRO of the Udupi diocese in a simple ceremony held at the Bishop’s House on June 7, 2019. In addition, he also assumed office as the Director of Commission for Social Communications.
The newly appointed PRO, (Fr Chetan Lobo, Capuchin) was administered the oath of office by Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo, the Bishop of Udupi. The incumbent PRO Fr Denis D’sa (now the parish priest of Shirva) and the incumbent Director of Social Communications Fr Valerian Mendonca (now the parish priest of Udupi) also participated in the oath taking ceremony. The Diocesan Education Secretary Fr Vincent Crasta, Fr Stephen D’Souza (Director of Divya Jyothi) Fr Reginald Pinto (Director of Sampada), Sr Veera (Director of ICDP), and Mr Alphonse D’Costa ( Secretary of Diocesan Pastoral Council) were present on the occasion.
Fr Chetan Lobo, a Capuchin priest of the Karnataka province of Capuchins, has worked as the editor of the diocesan fortnightly Konkani magazine ‘Uzvaad’ for six years since its inception. He has a post-graduate degree in Social Communications from Salesian University, Rome. He is a prolific writer in Konkani, Kannada, and English languages. He delivers lectures in Media and Communication at several seminaries and institutions. He also conducts workshops on media matters in schools and colleges. Among his literary works, the recently published collection of his editorials ‘Pavsadhonu’ (Rainbow) is widely acclaimed.
