Fr Muller Charitable Institution & Land Trades receive Ultra-Tech Awards hosted by ACCE (I)
Father Muller Charitable Institution got the ” ACCE (I) MLR-UltraTech Jury Special Award for Out of BOX Thinking in Design and Construction of RC Structures” (for Unique Overhead Water Tank) and & Land Trades got the “ACCE (I) MLR-UltraTech Award for Well-built Concrete (Multi-storeyed) in D.K, Udupi, Shimogga and Chikamagalur Districts “for “SOLITAIRE” Apts at the Utra-Tech Awards Ceremony held at Milagres Centenary Hall, on Wednesday, 8 January 2020, hosted by Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (I)- Mangaluru Chapter
Mangaluru: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) Mangaluru Centre (ACCE(I) and UltraTech Cement Limited, jointly hosted the ‘ACCE(I) MLR-UltraTech Awards-2019’on Wednesday, 8 January 2020 at Milagres Centenary Hall-Mangaluru. After seeking God’s blessings through a devotional song performed by “Shaad’s Music World” musicians, Er Arun Prabha- Chairman of ACCE(I) Mangalore Centre welcomed the gathering and introduced the dignitaries of the function to the gathering. The chief guest for the occasion in the absence of Smt Snehal Rayamane IAS-Managing Director, MESCOM ( who couldn’t attend due to other engagement), was Dr K S Babu Narayan -Professor at NITK- Surathkal, and who also received the Life Time Achievement Award 2019 on the occasion.
The Awards Ceremony was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, joined by other dignitaries namely- Dr Aswath M U (President ACCE (i); Er Garudadhwajan (Secretary General ACCE (i); Er Badrinath Singri ( Treasurer ACCE (I); Er J Tamil Selvan ( Vice President-South ACCE (I); Er Jayasankar K ( ZH- Technical Services Ultra -Tech Cement Ltd; Er Nagesh P – Regional Head -Technical Ultra-Tech Cement Ltd; along with ACCE (I) Mangaluru Centre members- Er Arun Prabha (Chairman); Er Ujwal D’souza ( Secretary); and Er Anil V Baliga M ( Treasurer).

The main purpose of organizing the Awards Ceremony programme was to encourage the engineers, architects, owners and contractors of these construction fraternity for their good quality, efficiency and innovative ideas. The programme was also organized to present the prestigious award to four different categories : Well built Concrete Structure in Multi Storey Building category within DK, Udupi, Chikmagalur and Shivamogga districts; Well Built Concrete Infrastructure in DK, Udupi, Shivamogga and Chikmagaluru Dist; Well Built Residential Villa in DK , Rural DK, Udupi, Shivamogga and Chikmagaluru Dist; ; and Special Category Award–Innovative Application of Concrete and construction Technology.

Er Nagesh Puttaswamy- Regional Head of UltraTech Cement Ltd gave a brief description of the company through audio visual presentation, where he said, ” The Company Unit Management fosters a culture of total integrity, credibility, trust, continuous learning, respect for individuals and all partners. It has formulated its own Vision and Mission in line with its Group objectives to drive growth and improvement. The Management believes in doing its activities in a systematic manner. As part of Corporate Social Responsibility, APCW is undertaking various initiatives in the field of Education, Infrastructure Building, Sustainable Livelihood, Health & Social Well-being in line with its Social vision and objectives in the surrounding community and villages.The unit received many recognition and awards from various independent institutions for achieving excellence in its operations, productivity, energy reduction, etc.”
The “Ultra-Tech Life Time Achievement Award 2019” was presented to Dr K S Babu Narayan- Professor at NITK-Surathkal. In his acceptance speech, after receiving the Award Dr Babu Narayan recognizing the efforts put in by the organizers and ACCE () Mangaluru members said, “This is indeed a great concept to award and encourage engineers and contractors. By doing this the relationship between engineers and owners or prospective owners of homes, villas, apartments, multi-storeyed buildings etc could be strengthened. Engineers are the backbone of development and technology. Sir Visvesvaraya had proved that with dedication, will power and commitment even the impossible could be accomplished. I humbly request that all the engineers gathered here to follow in the footsteps of Sir M V, because engineers just like Sir M V through their technological feats can transform the world into a better place to live. I can see the energy, enthusiasm and commitment on the faces of all you engineers .”
“We civil engineers have a great challenge between a scientist and technology. It was because of the passion you are all civil engineers. Passion is very much needed for someone to reach greater heights. Integrity, Speed and Strategy is also needed to reach great heights. Role of a civil engineer is a must in building a strong nation. We can do it- and We Engineers can do it. Engineers are needed for the growth and infrastructure – without the help of engineers, architects and contractors, We can’t create area’s infrastructure. My sincere congrats to all the awards winners, and wish them all success in their endeavors” added Dr K S Babu Narayan.
Er J Tamil Selvan-VP of ACCE (I) in his address to the audience said, “The journey you are on is important, and don’t take lightly these achievements we celebrate today. The Award ceremony gives us a welcome back opportunity to look back, our core values of excellence, innovation, collaboration and accountability which are the foundation of our commitment to help grow-intellectually, personally, professionally and culturally. Success is attracted by hard work, commitment, dedication and passion, but to do that, you need purpose and inspiration. Think critically about how you want to make a mark, and how you want to be of service to your country. We need to look into the areas of skill training, working conditions-health, safety environment etc for the overall improvement in the construction sector. Let us congratulate the top performers of today’s awards”
The vote of thanks was proposed by Er Ujwal D’souza- Secretary of ACCE (I)-Mangaluru, and the programme was compered professionally by Ms Anjali K R, who is a actress, model and performing artist. The audience was predominately mixed comprising engineers, architects and contractors from the districts of Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, DK and Udupi, joined by their family members and friends. The formal function concluded with a fellowship dinner, while ‘Shaad’s Music World” musicians entertained the crowd with Bollywood, and Sandalwood hits.
