Fringe elements Thrash Students in Kundapur

Kundapur: Fringe elements allegedly thrashed students who were on an outing at the Marawanthe Beach. The students had travelled in a car to Byndoor from Udupi. Two Muslim youth, their sister, a Christian and a Hindu girl were travelling in the vehicle.

The students from Udupi were on an outing at the Maravanthe beach and were returning back. The fringe elements had noticed the students in the beach and then started following the vehicle in which they were travelling.

The students, who noticed the fringe elements following their car, clicked their photograph, angered by it, those following the students alerted their other activists who managed to stop the car at Koteshwar.

They then allegedly thrashed the students. The students said that they were friends who had visited Maravanthe for an outing. The students pleaded the fringe elements to let them go but the activists did not heed to their request. People who had witnessed the conflict between the fringe elements and the students soon alerted the police.

The police who reached the spot took the students to the police station. The fringe elements also followed the police. The police after being convinced about the whereabouts of the students let them free. The police angered by the high drama of the fringe elements took them to task and warned them of legal consequences.
