Fun-n-Frolic ‘Carmel Festember 2017’ Ends with Memorable Moments

Fun-n-Frolic ‘Carmel Festember 2017’ organized by Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Mount Carmel Central School-Mary Hill-Mangaluru Ends with Memorable Moments. The biggest Fund Raiser for the final day of the Fest was raising Rs 6000 through an auction on a Rooster named “Kombo” donated by Alwyn Pais- a parent. “Cocka-doodle-do”-the bidder was MCCS student Christin Lobo- and this “cock” will surely be an alarm “clock” for him to get up early and bed in time for School!

Mangaluru: All’s Well that Ends Well!-That’s right. Quoting Shakespeare’s words, “But with the word the time will bring on summer, When briers shall have leaves as well as thorns, All’s well that ends well; still the fine’s the crown; Whatever the course, the end is the renown “-the organizing committee members of Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Mount Carmel Central school-Mary Hill-Mangaluru did a marvelous job by organizing this Two-Day Fest “Carmel Festember 2017” which was a sheer success, and the curtain came down to say “Adios” to the unique and prestigious “Fest” which culminated on Sunday 19 November at the School Campus.

Mount Carmel Central School has been proudly and nobly achieving its goal ‘higher and nobler’ through all its programmes, be it scholastic, co-scholastic or cultural for the past nine years. The year 2017, being the decennial year of the school, the parents, staff and students are hosting the fancy fete ‘Carmel Festember’. The event is being held with a noble cause for supporting a budding sports star and to be in empathy with needy students/staff/parents in case of terminal illness.

Carmel Festember 2017- the last event of the 10 point programme of Mount Carmel Decennial Celebration 2017-18 was witnessed on 18 and 19 November on the spectacular and fabulous grounds of Mount Carmel. When the minds are filled with passion and hearts with compassion, an event like this has meaning and life, for it is dedicated to a social cause for supporting the budding sports stars of the School who rise to the national level and to be in empathy with needy students/ staff/ parents in cases of terminal illness.

The hand- in – labour of love of all the parents, the students and the teachers was displayed in this event. The students trained for announcements and compering and the volunteers at the stalls in marketing skills, performance on the stage to exhibit their talents made this event, not just a fundraising one but a real day to be proud of by every parent, of their children’s capacity for managerial skills.Both the days 18th and 19th included live entertainment from the band stand, live displays of dance and song, the Young and the grand ramp walk, the wonderful avenue of fete stalls. The crowd also enjoyed a generous selection of fruit stalls for both hot and cold refreshments throughout the day.

James DSouza-a Marine Engineer, Singapore and Dr Gladys D’Souza, a prosthodontist, the parents of Jaden of class IV and Jeanine of Class II, who are great supporters of the School, and also this Festember were the Chief guests for Fest Inaugural Ceremony- and they inaugurated the Fest by lighting the ten Diyas and also releasing ten balloons,(symbolizing the completion of ten years -Decennial) along with Sr Melissa A C -Principal, Sr Maria Jyothi, joint secretary, Sr Carissima, administrator. In his inaugural speech, James D’Souza said, “This is a meaningful celebration of ten years, keeping good cause in mind. I wish festive days to all students, staff and parents. I hope this event will be memorable for everyone.”

The second day, 19th November of the Festember 2017 brought out all the excitement and exuberance to the already vibrant atmosphere of Saturday evening which brought in nearly 2000 plus parents and the public to the campus. All eyes of the teachers, parents and student volunteers within the campus were eagerly waiting to welcome them. Behind the scene, preparations for Festember were indeed taxing but all the pain vanished turning into joy to see the large crowds responding on Saturday evening as well as on Sunday.

The games Tin Bowling, Fortune wheel, Feeding the joker, Fishing Pond, Minute to Minute etc and the jumping castle kept the gathering enthralled. The Dancing Stars from various schools kept the environment fascinating. Who is the winner? It was a question mark to everyone- under senior category St Aloysius PUC and in the junior category, Mount Carmel Central School were the judged the winners in the final verdict.

The different snack stalls boosted the energy of everyone who encouraged the different fill-in- thrillers on the stage. The A.J Hospital First Aid personnel were ready to attend to any accidental case. The student M.C’s in their Royal Blue Festember T-Shirts danced to their hearts content, drawing in their teachers and other students into the circle to the lively music played by the drummers. The auction of cocks ( one cock was sold for Rs 6000, while a white cock was sold in bidding for Rs 3000) and cakes, vegetables from the organic farms of parents, the paintings of students and finally the grand lucky draw was watched by many eager eyes who were hoping to be among the lucky few to win a prize. The stage with the decorated prizes and the sponsors of these various prizes welcomed the display of winner’s artistic skills to a wide audience as the prizes were distributed.

Yes, the passion in the mind did generate compassion in the heart for the noble social cause. This social event was a resounding success in fostering value ethics at MCCS.

This day was made possible by all the dear parents, staff and students of MCCS. Special mention should be made of the volunteer parents who had slogged in planning and being on their feet for the last couple of days, who need to be appreciated. Yes, the passion in the mind did generate compassion in the heart for the noble social cause. Long Live PTA and Mount Carmel Central School- where Fun Never Stops!
