Gau-Puja marks Deepavali Celebration at Krishna Math
Udupi: As a part of Deepavali celebrations, the Gau-Puja was performed at the Sri Krishna Math Udupi on Friday, October 20.
The third day of Deepavali is being celebrated as the Gau-Puja a day to show gratitude towards cows. Gau Mata is inseparable from the Hindu culture and tradition and is highly respected and worshipped.
Prior to the Gau-Puja cows were taken out in a procession across the car street. Later Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji offered special Puja for the cows. On the occasion the cattle shed of the Math was well decorated and whitewashed. The cows were given a bath and decked with flowers. Special dishes were given to them by waving the aarati.
