Gau-Puja marks Deepavali Celebrations at Krishna Math

Udupi: As a part of Deepavali celebrations, Gau-Puja was performed at the Sri Krishna Math Udupi on Thursday, November 7.

The third day of Deepavali is being celebrated as the Gau-Puja a day to show gratitude towards cows. Gau Mata is inseparable from the Hindu culture and tradition and is highly respected and worshipped.

Prior to the Gau-Puja cows were taken out in a procession across the car street. Later the Paryaya Palimaru Swamiji offered special Puja for the cows. On the occasion the cattle shed of the Math was well decorated and whitewashed. The cows were given a bath and decked with flowers. Special dishes were given to them by waving the Aarati.

On November 7 evening Balindra Puja was performed. A massive Rangoli of Balindra was made. Later the Balindra Puja rituals were conducted and Prasadam was distributed to the devotees.
