He was speaking during his visit to Alva’s Education Foundation as a guest speaker on ‘Issues and challenges before youths of North East India’ organized by ‘Rostrum’ Speakers Club of Alva’s Education Foundation, on Wednesday, at the Kuvempu Hall, Vidyagiri.

He added, ‘’the strength of the youth is just like the strength of the monsoon rivers, which may either cause devastation or restore lives. As like a river, if the youth are channelized properly in the early stages then the expected outcome can be met, otherwise they may become treacherous to the society’’. He added and said, ‘’each individual should compromise for the greater benefit of the society by stretching his comfort zones. One must inculcate good human values prior to their professional life’’.

He further said that the disintegration of values among the people of northeastern states is a major cause of unrest prevailing in the state, moreover, access to higher education is very low, the Gross Enrollment Ratio of 14% in Assam, is another hindrance for development, he added. To foster national integration and strengthen the bondage between northeastern states and the coastal districts he said was the prime concern of his visit.

Dr Barnali Sarma Associate Professor Dept of History Gauhati University, Dr Debanjali Basumatari, Associate Professor Dept of Applied Science Gauhati University, and Alva’s Education Foundation Trustee Vivek Alva were present among others.
