Get Out..Get Out..? MESCOM Lineman Confronted/Assaulted by a Congress Leader Over Unpaid Power Bill Issue
Mangaluru: Here is an incident where a former President of Thumbe Congress Labour Unit had used his political power by confronting and assaulting a MESCOM staff, who was just performing his duties. Sources reveal that a lineman belonging to Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (Mescom) along with three other colleagues, had visited the residence of a Congress leader, named Ameer Hussain, residing at Jalalbagh-Deralakatte in Kotekar Town Panchayat limits, in order to verify unpaid electricity bill as directed by his higher officials, on Tuesday, 28 January 2020.
When the MESCOM staff named Madhu Nayak from Kotekar, after verifying the unpaid electricity bill and the meter at Hussain’s house, and had kindly requested that the pending bill should be paid, a fuming Ameer started confronting the Mescom staff with abusive language and even assaulted him (see video below). Ameer in the video is seen saying that the bill has been paid a week ago, and when the MESCOM staff asked Ameer to produce the paid receipt, he started using foul language and also assaulting Madhu.
In the video you can hear Ameer hurling words at Madhu as to how dare he enter a Muslim house and talk like that, for which Madhu replies that he had respected Ameer by calling him “SIR” all during the conversation. A police complaint under Section 353 of obstructing a government worker from discharging his duties has been registered on the basis of a complaint made by Madhu Nayak. Meantime, a large group of MESCOM employees arrived at Ullal police station condemning the incident and urged the police authorities to take strict action against Ameer Hussain.
