Mangaluru: At a press meet held by Principal District and Sessions Judge Kadluru Sathyanarayana Rao he said, “District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) will organize a National Lok Adalat at the Court Complex, Mangaluru and all taluk courts to help litigants in quick settlement of pending cases. There are over 6000 notices pertaining to pre-litigation cases have already been sent to litigants, out of which 618 have responded to resolve their cases in the Lok Adalat this Saturday, 8 February 2020 in the Court Complex, Mangaluru. Those who have not got notices can directly approach the Lok Adalat through their advocates or in person. If the cases are resolved in Lok Adalat then the entire court fee will be refunded”

The Judge further said, “Last year as many as 4820 cases were disposed off in the Lok Adalats in the district. Of that, over 700 participated in Motor Vehicle Act with a total compensation disbursed worth Rs 15.31 crore, while 1011 were pre-litigation cases in which the banks recovered Rs 6.15 crore. The other cases disposed include 2628 criminal compoundable cases and 476 Civil cases. It’s surprise to note that people are not responding to court’s notices with regard to surety cases, I urge such people to resolve such cases in the Lok Adalat without any fear. This is a very good opportunity to settle your pending cases” .
