Girls Safety Must in Institutions, Case Should be Booked Against Jagadish Karanth – HM Reddy

Mangaluru: “In the police commissionerate there are 7 lakh vehicles because of which there are traffic problems. Today we have inaugurated a Fire Station in Moodbidri built at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore. In the state, the law and order situation is under control. I have instructed the police officers to curb the crime by imposing Goonda act against those who are involved in Goondaism. In the Girls Schools safety of the girls is very important, police officers should visit such schools regularly and solve any problems faced by the girl students”, said Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy in a press meet held at the Police Commissioner’s office here on September 20.

HM Ramalinga Reddy questioned the SP, on why the case was not registered against HJV Puttur president Jagadish Karanth who had used abusive language against a police Inspector of Sampya Police Station? Whoever they are and whichever party or organizations they belong to, the police should take action against them.

When reporters asked the home minister about the delay in taking action against Jagadish Karanth who abused the Sampya police inspector, the Home Minister questioned the SP of Dakshina Kannada. SP Sudheer Reddy said that we are waiting for legal opinion to file a case against Jagadish Karanth.

The home minister further said, “In such cases, police should not wait for legal opinion. If we wait for the legal opinion others too will take advantage and indulge in such behaviour. Police should not give any opportunity to such people instead they should take stern action against them.”

When asked about Gauri Lankesh murder case, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said, “We have handed over the case to SIT and they are investigating the case. It is not right to comment further or interfere in the case when the investigation is on.”

HM Reddy also said, “If the law and order situation is not maintained, the particular station head will be held responsible. The police beat system in the district is a good initiative, the police should hold public meetings regularly. Drug peddlers should be nabbed and the kingpins should also be arrested. Skill games, gambling, illegal massage parlours should be stopped. For safety and security, CCTV cameras should be installed in every place under CSR funds, or from the police department.”
