Give Completion Date in Writing within 10 days or else Tollgate will be Closed – MP Nalin
Mangaluru: “If the authorities of National Highway 66 will not give the completion date in writing within 10 days, with the help of the locals, I will close the tollgate. The construction of the Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers started many years ago but the completion of the job is unpredictable. The public is blaming the MP for the delay. I want the completion date in writing within ten days,” warned MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to the authorities of Navyug Company in a meeting held in his office at the DC office premises here on June 21.
MP Nalin called a meeting with the National Highway and the Navyug company authorities to discuss on the delay in completing the flyovers at Thokkottu and Pumpwell. “Last time when the meeting was called with the Navyug officials, they had assured of completing the Thokkottu flyover work in May 2018 and the Pumpwell Flyover by December 2018. But the present situation does not, in any way, indicate that the work will be completed by the promised time. I want to know exactly when the work on both the flyovers will be completed. I want the authorities to give in writing within 10 days, the completion date for both the flyovers. If they fail to give the date in writing within 10 days, along with the locals, I will close the tollgate,” warned Nalin.
MP Nalin addressing the Navyug representative said,”I thought of inviting PM Modi for the inauguration of the Pumpwell flyover in January next year but now you are saying that you will complete the work in June 2019? We cannot wait until June. The company has already paid Rs 1.2 crore penalty for the delay in completing the work but have yet not learnt from their mistakes. Let the Director of Navyug come to Mangaluru and discuss this issue with the Deputy Commissioner.”
MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency Vedavyas Kamath, Vice President of ZP Kasturi Panja, Corporators Premanand Shetty, Sudheer Shetty Kannur and Vijaykumar were also present.
