GM Corp Bank Laxminath Reddy Inaugurates 28th Road safety week

Mangaluru: The 28th Road safety week with the theme “Your safety secures your family, be cautious on Road”, was inaugurated at the Police community hall here on January 12.

The programme began with an invocation. DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil welcomed the gathering. RTO R N Vernekar delivered the keynote address.

The programme was inaugurated by the General Manager of Corporation Bank Laxminath Reddy by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.

Addressing the gathering Laxminath said, “Today we have inaugurated the 28th road safety week. If people will read the theme of the road safety week “Your safety secures your family, be cautious on Road”, people will understand the importance of life. When we think of our family, we will take special care about safety. In India every year 1.4 lakh people die in the road accidents which is a huge number. Nowadays we are developing our roads, even the vehicles on the road have increased. When the roads are wide and good, the rider or driver does not think of safety. At this point, we need to follow the traffic rules, when we violate the rules it will result in tragedy.”

He further said, “We all should strictly follow the traffic rules because life is very precious. While riding two wheelers we need to wear the helmet without fail. Always ride or drive within the speed limit. Drinking and driving will also lead to disaster.”

President of the Canara Bus 0wners association Raja Varma Ballal delivered the presidential address. Pamphlets and CD related to traffic safety were released on the occasion. ACP Central Uday Nayak, ACP Traffic Tilakchandra, Pollution control board officer Rajshekar Puranik, DGM of corporation bank Vittal Shenoy and others were also present.
