Goan Football League: Holy Spirit and St Christopher to Play in Semis
Kuwait: The semi-final line-up has been decided for the Goan Football League run by the Goa Football Association Kuwait (GFAK) after exciting quarter-final matches played at Bayan Grounds.
In the first semis, two giant teams Holy Spirit, Margao will take on St. Christopher FC at 5:30 pm, while Amigos de Jardine will play Pasha Boys in the other semi-final at 6:00 pm.
In the quarter-finals played last Friday, in Group A, Holy Spirit, Margao beat Capxem Boys 4 – 3 in tie-breaker after the match ended 1-1 in full time.
During the regulation time, Stanley Pereira (1) scored for Holy Spirit, while Mario Rapozao (1) was the scorer for Capxem.
Custodio Peixoto was adjudged man of the match handed over by GFAK member Melvin Fernandes.
In the other match of Group A, Pasha Boys beat St. Rita Main by a solitary goal (1-0).
Noel Fernandes scored the all-important goal. Noel was later awarded man of the match handed over by GFAK member Carlos Fernandes.
In Group B, Amigos de Jardine beat CRC Chinchinim in tie-breaker by 4-2 after the match ended 1-1 in full time.
During normal time, Roland Fernandes (1) scored for Amigos de Jardine while Anthony Rego (1) was the scorer for Chinchinim.
Roland Fernandes was adjudged man of the match handed over by Anthony Fernandes.
In the other quarter-final in Group B, St. Christopher had an easy (4-1) victory over Goa Strikers.
Cleto Gomes (2) and Marion Fernandes (2) scored for St. Christopher FC; Conrad Pinto (1) pulled one back for Goa.
Cleto Gomes was awarded man of the match presented at the hands of Agricio D’Mello.

The race for top scorer of the league is a close one. The top five scorers are as follows so far:
13 goals – Mairon Fernandes (St. Christopher)
10 goals – Richard Rodrigues (Holy Spirit)
9 goals – Melvin Fernandes (Capxem Boys )
8 goals – Prajot Naik (St. Christopher)
8 goals – Jayden Luke Fernandes (Amigos de Jardine)
GOA FOOTBALL LEAGUE
The innovative idea of the league was conceptualized by Manuel D’ Costa and Austine Abreo.
This is the first time in the history of Indian football in Kuwait that a Goan league has been organized.
Core Committee of GFAK consists of Manuel D’Costa, Austine Abreo, Melvin Fernandes, Agricio D’Mello, Salvador Dias, Cajetan Fernandes, Marshall Fernandes, Carlos Fernandes, etc.
The semi-finals will be played on 25 October 2019 at Bayan Grounds as follows:
Holy Spirit, Margao vs St. Christopher FC – 5:30 pm
Amigos de Jardine vs Pasha Boys – 6:00 pm
