Going sky High on Paraglider to increase Voting Awareness in Udupi District
Udupi: To reach out to the voters and ensure high participation in the upcoming assembly elections to the Legislative Assembly, and also to create awareness on ethical voting, a Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme is now reaching the skies.
The Udupi district administration to woo the citizens to exercise their voting rights is spreading awareness by flying a paramotor trike over the city for two hours from March 22 at the Ajjarkad district stadium.
Shivanad Kapasi president of the SVEEP committee said that the main aim of the campaign is to educate and motivate voters especially the student community. People will be showered with pamphlets from the air. Aimed at creating awareness on ethical voting, SVEEP has deployed a para-motor trike to drop pamphlets printed with the content explaining the importance of casting votes. The para-motor trike will cover the entire Udupi district.
He also stressed that every person above 18 years should visit the polling booth without fail and cast their vote. They can contact the Block Level Officers or the Village Accountants and get the details about their identity cards. New voters can get their names registered; rectify mistakes online, by visiting website ceokarnataka.kar.nic.in. The district should register 100% voting in the upcoming Assembly elections. The Election Commission hopes that the public utilises the opportunity and cast their votes. The Election Commission has given an opportunity to the public to get their name registered till the last day of nomination. The need of the hour is to create awareness about voting among the family members, locals, friends and others, he said.
Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis administrated the oath to the students of Government First grade women’s college Ajjarkad on the occasion.
