Golfer Dwivedi slips to tied 42nd at Asia-Pacific

Hong Kong, Oct 3 (IANS) India’s No.3 amateur Samarth Dwivedi slipped five places to be tied 42nd after scoring three-over 73 on day three of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Championship at the Clearwater Bay country & golf club here on Saturday.

The 22-year-old Dwivedi has a total of three-over 213 (67-73-73) at the par-70 course. Thailand-born Dwivedi, who finished seventh at the Malaysian Amateur Open in May this year, struggled throughout the day as he collected bogeys on the second, seventh, eighth, 10th, 11th, 17th holes and could only convert three birdies on the fifth, 16th and 18th.

Another Indian golfer who made the cut on Friday, Aman Raj, current leader of IGU’s order of merit, moved up one place from tied 48th to tied 47th after carding 73 for the total of five-over 215 (70-72-73).

In the quest of booking an amateur’s berth for 2016 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, China’s Cheng Jin maintained his lead as he submitted a card of one-under 69 for the total of 11-under 199.

As many as 120 players from 37 countries are participating in the event.
