Goyal visits Dalit’s house, says government will implement reservation

Bengaluru, June 6 (IANS) Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday visited a Dalit’s house in south Bengaluru for breakfast and assured that the Narendra Modi government would implement reservation for the community.

“I had a delicious breakfast. It is a memorable moment in my life. I visited this home as per BJP President Amit Shah’s directive,” he told reporters at Hongasandra of Bommanahalli Assembly constituency, adding that his visit had “nothing” to do with the Karnataka Assembly elections.

The Power Minister, who had lemon rice and chapatti for breakfast at the Dalit’s residence, later participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Bommanhalli along with the BJP activists.

“Dalits need not worry about losing reservation benefits. The NDA government led by Narendra Modi will implement reservation for Dalits without fail,” he said.

Goyal advised the Dalits to avail the benefits of welfare schemes launched by the government.

“I want all Dalits to have Aadhaar cards and open bank accounts to avail the benefits of welfare schemes,” he said.

Later, he attended a youth convention organised at the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association auditorium, Vijayanagar, in south Bengaluru.

Goyal also used the occasion to blast the Congress government in Karnataka as there was a power outage for four times in one hour during his speech.

“I think the Congress has no right to continue in power in Karnataka. If the government fails to ensure uninterrupted power supply at a Union Minister’s programme, why should the Congress continue in power? It is a shame on the state government,” he said.

Elaborating on the welfare programmes and reforms launched by Prime Minister Modi, Goyal said not a single corruption case was reported against the Union Ministers in the last three years.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become more popular after demonetisation of high value currency notes. He has been working day and night for welfare of the people. He has not taken a single day leave in three years,” he said.
