Grandmother Arrested for Assaulting 2-year-old Grandchild

Bengaluru: A grandmother has been arrested for severely assaulting her 2-year-old grandchild for asking extra meals, under the Sadduguntepalya police station limits.

The arrested has been identified as Mubeena from Gurappana Palya.

According to the police, Imran Pasha and Hajira couple have been residing in Gurappana Palya. Hajira’s mother Mubeena was also staying with them. Imran and Hajira have a 2-year-old son, and Mubeena was continuously assaulting the child from the past 15 days saying that the child was asking for more food. Even when Mubeena had burnt the child’s hand, Hajira did not raise any voice against her mother.

When Imran asked what happened to the child, both mother and daughter were giving various reasons. When Imran asked Mubeena, she threatened him and asked him to leave the house with the child. The locals came to know about the incident and informed the police. The police arrived at the spot and rushed the child to Indira Gandhi hospital for treatment.

Imran filed a complaint in the Sadduguntepalya police station against Mubeena for assaulting his child. The police have taken Mubeena to their custody.

A case has been registered under the IPC section 326 and 26 JJ Act.
