Green Deepavali Celebration at AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Autonomous)-Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Hostel students of AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore celebrated DEEPAVALI on 30th Oct at 7.30 in the Arthur Shenoi Auditorium. Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Director, AIMIT led the students’ gathering in a bajan. It was followed by a welcome dance. Lestan D’Souza, the Warden of the AIMIT hostels and the Program Coordinator, gave an introduction to the feast and welcomed the gathering. A video clip explaining the meaning of Deepavali by Sadguru was played.
There was an INTER RELIGIOUS PRAYER SERVICE. Three students read relevant passages from Bhagavatgeeta, Quran and the New Testament highlighting the meaning of the LIGHT in Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. Rev. Fr Dionyisus Vaz SJ, Rector, Aloysian Institutions, who was present, gave an inspiring message to the students gathering highlighting the importance of coming together to celebrate the feast and experiencing unity among us which is very important for our country.
Seventeen students of Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance ( PGDBF), the one-year residential course for the selected candidates for the Catholic Syrian Bank offered saplings of fruit trees as a sign of GREEN INITIATIVE. Students of the ladies hostel entertained the gathering with a dance. The program ended with sumptuous food in the Food Court of the Institute.
